WBC! Flick Pick of The Week

23Mar10

Ratings: PG-13Violence and brief strong language, Common Sense, Iffy for 14+
Length: 120 minutes

This weeks flick pick of the week is Valkyrie. The plot of Valkyrie is obviously somewhat restricted by the fact that it is based on the true story of an assassination attempt on Hitler. There were about 20 attempts on Hitler, which we rarely ever hear in school based text books. Wounded in Africa during World War II, Nazi Col. Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) returns to his native Germany and joins the Resistance in a daring plan to create a shadow government and assassinate Adolf Hitler. When events unfold so that he becomes a central player, he finds himself tasked with both leading the coup and personally killing the Führer. Bill Nighy and Eddie Izzard co-star in this drama based on actual events (Netflix). Over all, I thought it was a good movie, but thats because I like war and history movies.
